We look forward to sharing our film even more widely in the future.”

“I Made This For You” Available to Watch for Free to mark World Suicide Prevention Day

I Made This For You, a searingly honest British feature film that tackles mental health, depression and suicide head on is now available to watch for free on Youtube globally. The release marks World Suicide Prevention Day and will be showing on the platform for a month until World Mental Health Day on October 10th.

Watch the film here:

I Made This For You follows a man, played by Gary Grant (Enemy Lines), who cuts himself off from his friends and family and has recently attempted suicide. He is pulled back from the edge by a documentary made about his life by a friend, played by director Cristian Solimeno (Guilt, Rush, Footballers Wives). His friends also include Alison Newman (Eastenders, Footballers Wives) , Dermot Murphy (Animals, The Drummer and The Keeper), Francis Magee (Star Wars: Rogue One, Game of Thrones) and West End star Siobhan Dillon (Cabaret, Grease, Sunset Boulevard, Miss Saigon).

The film within a film mixes reality with fiction in a unique and groundbreaking way. Despite the seriousness of the subject, what results is something funny, beautiful and deeply cathartic that provokes action and conversation.
Following the film, Director Cristian Solimeno also created the #imadethisforyou social campaign. The campaign invites people to take a moment out from their lives to try and make something for someone who is going through a hard time and share these acts of kindness for the week of World Suicide Prevention Day.

The aim is to create an explosion of love, kindness and creativity that empowers people to reach out and gives us the confidence to actually try. It can be a cake, a card, a jumper or a song.

The point is to make things with other people in mind and to give these things away to show you care. Random acts of kindness count and can make a real difference.

Festival News: The Book of Vision

Carlo S. Hintermann’s debut feature, The Book of Vision, will open the 35th Venice International Film Critic’s Week on September 3rd

The official trailer and artwork by Lorenzo Ceccotti for The Book of Vision, from Carlo S. Hintermann, launches today. His debut feature film opens the 35th Venice International Film Critic’s Week in Italy on September 3rd 2020.

Hintermann directs an international cast including Charles Dance (Game of Thrones)Lotte Verbeek (Outlander, The Borgias), well known in the world of the TV series, Sverrir Gudnason (Borg vs McEnroe)Isolda Dychauk (The Borgias, Faust, TwoGirls) and Italian actor Filippo Nigro.

The art was created by Lorenzo Ceccotti, aka LRNZ, the Concept Visual Designer of the film.

“With this film I tried to capture and isolate the transcendent and immanent vision of nature, which swarms outside and inside the body, always changing like the soul. For a visual artist, telling timeless stories is at the same time a great challenge formal and honesty, but also a very rare opportunity. I can, therefore, only be grateful for being considered capable of presenting such a profound, complex and rich work” says LRNZ.

Eva, a promising young doctor, leaves her brilliant career to study History of Medicine in a remote university. Now is the time for her to call everything into question: her nature, her body, her illness, and her sealed fate. Johan Anmuth is an 18th-century Prussian physician in perpetual conflict between the rise of rationalism and ancient forms of animism. The Book of Vision is a manuscript that sweeps these two existences up, blending them into a never-ending vortex. Far from a proper scientific text, the book contains the hopes, fears, and dreams of more than 1800 patients. Dr. Anmuth truly knew how to listen to his patients, whose spirits still wander through the pages, life and death, merging in a continuous flow. The story of Anmuth and his patients inspire Eva to live her life to the fullest. Nothing expires in its time. Only what you desire is real, not merely what happens.

The official trailer, co-produced with Entre Chien et Loup (Belgium) and Luminous Arts Productions (UK) with Rai Cinema and the support of the Directorate General for Cinema and the Province of Trento, can be captured the visionary atmospheres and the suggestive settings in extraordinary locations. The film’s artistic, aesthetic and productive value is extremely high, starting from executive producer Terrence Malick and bearing the signature of industry excellence such as photography by Joerg Widmer, one of the most celebrated European directors of photography, David Crank, considered one of the most talented American set designers and Mariano Tufano who has curated the costumes, winner of the David di Donatello in 2007. Music is by Hanan Townshend in collaboration with Federico Pascucci.

The Book of Vision is brought to you by Gerardo Panichi, Sébastien Delloye, Robin and Vera Monotti Graziadei and Rai Cinema.

A Citrullo International Production, Entre Chien et Loup, Luminous Arts Productions with Rai Cinema.

Review: The Old Man & the Gun (2018)

oldman.jpgThe Old Man & the Gun is a 2018 Crime Drama written and directed by David Lowery and starring Robert Redford, Sissy Spacek, Casey Affleck, Danny Glover and Tom Waits. The script is based on the New Yorker article of the same name by David Grann.

Based on the true story of Forrest Tucker (Redford) and his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 to an unprecedented string of heists that confounded authorities (Affleck) and enchanted the public.

Heavily billed as Redford’s final role before retirement, it only makes sense that the film heavily focuses on the acting of its talent.

Redford is of course fantastic, oozing effortless charm and embodying Tucker’s affable but untrustworthy persona. His scenes with Spacek have such a touching believability that their relationship feels almost tangible. The way their eyes sparkle when they look at each is heart-warming and their slow naturalistic conversations are endearing yet long-winded. This isn’t the snappy, precise dialogue that modern audiences are accustomed to, this is slow plodding dialogue fully of pauses and half-finished sentences.

Review: Green Book (2018)

greenbook.jpgGreen Book is a 2018 comedy-drama film directed by Peter Farrelly and starring Viggo Mortensen (Captain Fantastic, The Lord of the Rings) and Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Marvel’s Luke Cage). The story is based on true events and takes its name from a mid-20th century guidebook for African-American travelers.

A working-class Italian-American bouncer (Mortensen) becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist (Ali) on a tour of venues through the 1960’s American South.

Even whilst dealing with the inevitably heavy racism, the film conforms to the structure of a buddy-comedy road-trip movie, where two characters from two very different walks of life are forced together and become friends over hardships.
