UK Christmas Release Schedule 2020

0
Starring:
Sylvester McCoy (Dr Who),  Natalie Clark (The Last Bus), Kenny Boyle, Sanjeev Kohli, (Still Game) & Clare Grogan (Gregory’s Girl)
Lost At Christmas is set in the remote Scottish town of Fort William, on Christmas Eve, when life is turned upside down for Jen (Natalie Clark) and Rob (Kenny Boyle). Suddenly finding themselves heartbroken, single and stranded, they team up to try and reach home 100 miles away to be with their families. “Borrowing” Jen’s now ex-boyfriend’s classic car, the pair hit the road, but it’s not long before the weather turns for the worse forcing them to continue their journey on foot.

Bickering and bonding across the snowy Moors of Glencoe, they eventually arrive at a remote inn where they meet other guests dead set on avoiding the traditional Christmas joy. However, as Christmas Day draws closer, will happiness emerge and draw Jen and Rob together?

Lost at Christmas will bring you in from the cold, lighten your heart and provide the ultimate feel-good Christmas cinema experience.
Lost At Christmas will be in UK Cinemas from 4th December and on Digital Download from 7th December
Starring: Simon Russell Beale, Martin Freeman, Carey Mulligan, Daniel Kaluuya and Andy Serkis (voice cast) and  Michael Nunn, Jakub Franasowicz, Russell Maliphant, Karl Fagerlund Brekke, Mikey Boats, Grace Jabbari and Dana Fouras (dancing cast)
A Christmas Carol follows a Victorian family as they prepare a toy-theatre for their annual performance of A Christmas Carol. The audience enters the imagination of one of the children and quickly the cardboard stage transforms to reveal a magical world containing real dancers and stylised sets.  The tale unfolds on screen in a rich tapestry of highly absorbing, haunting and theatrical drama with characters portrayed by dancers and voiced by an eclectic cast of incredible actors. The mix of danced action and spoken narration brings a completely new and exciting dimension to Dickens’ characters whilst remaining true to the beauty of his original narrative.

With pantomime season all but cancelled, the dual approach to release is to support both cinema and theatre industries during a time of financial hardship generated by the Coronavirus pandemic. The announcement of a second lockdown has not changed directors David and Jacqui Morris’s approach towards such an inherently theatrical film, best enjoyed on the big screen. Both directors see the release and supporting local cinemas and theatres as an inherent part of A Christmas Carol’s 2020 release.

A Christmas Carol will be showing in mainland UK cinemas and theatres nationwide from 4th December and Ireland from 11th December. Visit the website for listings: https://www.achristmascarol2020.film/?country=united-kingdom

Cinema provides escapism, a chance to get lost in a story, to be taken to far away lands, be touched by fear, by love, by painful situations. It provides a safe space for people from the outside world, a social space for those meeting with friends and somewhere to catch forty winks in a dark room if you so wish.

The news this week that Cineworld will be temporarily closing its operations from Thursday and Odeon closing some venues during the week came as a blow and it is easy to assume that nothing is coming out. That is not the case. Between now and Christmas, there are tonnes of releases for all groups and ages to enjoy and to do so safely.

UK Theatrical Release: Creation Stories

0

On the 60th birthday of music industry svengali, Alan McGee, Burning Wheel Productions are delighted to reveal a brand new teaser clip from their upcoming title CREATION STORIES.

CREATION STORIES is the feature film of the life of McGee – the adaptation of his highly acclaimed autobiography ‘Creation Stories – Riots, Raves and Running a Record Label‘.

Producer Shelley Hammond was delighted with the reveal. “We are really excited for everyone to get a first glimpse at Creation Stories! It’s a true British film in the best way possible. Nick Moran and everyone involved has done an absolutely sterling job and the best part is soon to come – when it’s out there for all to see!”

The film features a star-studded British cast including Ewen Bremner, Suki WaterhouseJason IsaacsJason FlemyngPaul Kaye,  Steven BerkoffThomas Turgoose & Ed Byrne.

Written by cult figure Irvine Welsh with writing partner Dean CavanaghCREATION STORIES is being directed by Nick Moran (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) with Danny Boyle (Trainspotting,  Slumdog Millionaire) executive producing.

“Creation Stories’ is a modern day fable. Part cautionary tale, part cavalier romp, mostly hilarious, occasionally sobering & constantly engaging.” Said Director Nick Moran“An irresistible trip down memory lane, or a delightful history lesson about the last great days of Rock & Roll. When Britannia ruled the airwaves, thanks to one man with his misfit mates and their indie record label that briefly changed history. It is shamelessly entertaining and I hope, a joy for everyone!”

The beginning, near bankruptcy, pills, thrills, spats, prats, success, excess and breakdowns. From leaving school at sixteen to setting up the Living Room club in London, showcasing emerging indie bands, from managing The Jesus and Mary Chain to co-founding Creation at 23. He brought us My Bloody ValentineHouse of LoveRide and, of course, Primal Scream. Embracing acid house, Alan decamped to Manchester, and hung out at the Hacienda, taking Creation into the big time with Primal Scream’s Screamadelica. His drug-induced breakdown, when it came, was dramatic, but climbing back to sobriety, he oversaw Oasis‘ rise to become one of the biggest bands in the world.

Coming to UK Cinemas soon!

UK Theatrical Release: Max Winslow and the House of Secrets

0
Munro Films is excited to be unveiling the new poster and announcing the theatrical release date of October 23rd for spooky family Sci-Fi, Max Winslow and the House of Secrets.

invas.jpgMunro Films & Lightbulb Film Distribution are delighted to announce that the British independent sci-fi feature, Invasion Planet Earth, will have its UK release later this year.

A theatrical release date of 5th December has been set and the film will be released on Digital Download on 16th December, shortly followed by the DVD release on 30th December.

“After the death of his young daughter, Tom Dunn is a broken man. When his wife falls pregnant again, he cannot believe their luck. However, his joy is short lived, as on the very same day, the people of Earth become plagued with terrifying visions of the end of the world.

When a gigantic, all-consuming alien mothership appears in the sky and launches a ruthless attack on Earth’s cities, chaos and destruction follow!

Tom must find the strength and wisdom to save his wife and unborn child. However, first he must confront a shocking truth. A truth which threatens the key to the survival of the human race.

The ultimate war for Planet Earth is about to begin…”

The story of the production of the film is a remarkable one. A true passion project, Invasion Planet Earth has taken twenty years to make from inception to release.

The film, originally titled Kaleidoscope Man, is the brainchild of British filmmaker Simon Cox, who directed, co-wrote, edited, as well as supervised and produced the vfx. Taking inspiration from sci-fi classics such as Star Wars and The War of the Worlds, Simon began working on the film in the 90s, spending six years filming around the Birmingham area.

After years of pitching to the UK film industry and private investors, a small amount of money was raised which Simon used to produce a pilot and for concept art to be created. However, it soon became apparent that funding this movie in what was then, the traditional way, was not going to happen. In 2012, Simon took the bold decision to crowdfund the film using social media.

It took two years and seven campaigns for Simon and his team to raise a significant amount of money which enabled them to shoot around a third of the movie. These included a spectacular scene in Central Birmingham where nine hundred extras turned up, in an epic, War of the Worlds style battle scene.

Simon then found some investors who financed the rest of the movie. However, this took time and once the live action scenes were finally shot, the special effects took another two and a half years to complete. In total, the movie was in production for seven years with ten years before that in development. Such was the multitude of generous donors and patrons of this project; the film lists over 100 producers on IMDb!

Invasion Planet Earth will also include an end title song by Toyah Willcox (Jubilee, Quadrophenia) who also stars in the film. Matt Allsopp (Godzilla, Rogue One) provided original concept art for the film.

Both Munro Films and Lightbulb Film distribution were delighted to be releasing this testament to independent British filmmaking.

“Simon Cox had the vision and drive to make the kind of film he and sci-fi fans want to see. It’s the ultimate nostalgic homage and very effective,” says Munro Film’s managing director, Frank Smith. “There’s a clear fanbase, and Simon should also be applauded for engaging a community of fans for the film over the years, many of whom featured as extras in crowd scenes. They, along with sci-fi fans across the UK can now enjoy Invasion Planet Earth and we are very happy about that.”

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be releasing Invasion Planet Earth,” said Lightbulb’s Commercial Director, Matthew Kreuzer. “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on this film for the past few months with Simon and his team. What he has created over the past 20 years is a fantastic action / sci-fi film with a nod to the sci-fi programmes we used to watch in the 70’s and 80’s (Dr Who, Blake’s 7, Space 1999 and Buck Rogers). It has such a cool retro feel about it and yet he has combined this with strong CGI elements, bringing it up to the modern day.”

Ahead of the UK release, the cast and crew will be present at MCM Comic Con Birmingham on Sunday 17th November, where they will be on a panel on the main stage talking Behind The Scenes of Invasion Planet Earth. Shortly after, Simon Cox will also lead a workshop on Creating Special Effects on a Budget.

Invasion Planet Earth opens in UK Cinemas from 5th December and is available on Digital Download from 16th December and DVD on 30th December. For one night only on 5th December, cinema screenings will be followed by From Dream to Screen, a documentary featurette by Simon Cox.
